I’m excited to share one of the most challenging projects I’ve worked on so far: Stylized Water. Developing this water system was a fun and rewarding process that taught me a lot of new things along the way.
Stylized Water is a water system built in Unreal Engine, based on Single Layer Water, providing an optimal balance between visual quality and performance.
It includes various features, like a buoyancy system with asynchronous GPU-to-CPU readback, underwater post-processing, waterline, caustics light function, wetness decal, HISM-based grid system for the water body, underwater godrays, underwater volumetric fog, local & global wave control, rivers, waterfalls, and more.
Huge thanks to Ovidiu Vladut & Gabriel Tanko! Ovidiu handled all the VFX, which contributed enormously to the final result, while Gabriel provided artistic feedback and suggested ideas for new features.
